What a VERITA verification means

A VERITA verification confirms that, on the date of verification, VERITA verified the identity of the business owner or service provider, confirmed the business was operating, verified its contact details and stated location where applicable, reviewed references where necessary, and confirmed business registration where applicable. A VERITA verification reflects the outcome of these checks on the verification date. It is not a guarantee of future conduct, product quality, financial stability, or honesty.

What it does not mean

A business that is not listed on VERITA is not necessarily untrustworthy. Many businesses have never applied for verification. Customers should not treat the absence of a VERITA record as evidence of wrongdoing.

Obligations of a verified business

A verified business must keep all information provided to VERITA accurate, notify VERITA promptly of any material changes, use the VERITA badge only for the verified business, and immediately stop displaying the badge if verification expires, is suspended, or is withdrawn.

Expiry, renewal and withdrawal

A VERITA verification is valid for 12 months from the date of approval unless withdrawn earlier. Renewal requires a new review. VERITA may suspend or withdraw a verification if the original verification conditions no longer apply. Every withdrawal is recorded with a reason and may require review by more than one reviewer.

Reports and disputes

Anyone may submit information about a verified business. Every report is independently reviewed. Where appropriate, the business will have an opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.
